Rajpandit Dr. Goswami Giridhari Lal Ji was perhaps one of first persons, who has done extensive research in astrology and had completed a thesis on (predictive Astrology & Maharishi Prashar), for which he was awarded a Ph.D. Degree from the Delhi University.
People are well aware of the science of astrology but unfortunately the scientific data have not been unfolded before them. He was Director of Institute of Sanskrit Studies & Astrological Sciences, New Delhi, Director of Bharat Sanskrit Nayas, New Delhi, Founder Member of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Ministry of Education & Social Welfare, Govt. of India) Working Member of Kendriya Sanskrit Parishad (Ministry of Education & Social Walfare); also member of a number of social and literary societies.General Secretary of Sanstan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha Punjab, and All India Sanstan Dharam Sabha etc. President of Asronomical & Astrological Society of India; Chairman of Panchang Seminar organised by Govt. of India, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi; Member of International Congress of Orientalists, 1964; Organiser Member of international Sanskrit Conference, 1972; Founder Editor of Goswami Jyotish Times (Hindi /English Monthly Magzine), New Delhi.
The knowledge of Jyotish has come to Dr. Goswami from his father late Dr. Goswami Girdhari Lal Ji who himself held the honour of receiving ever first Ph.D degree on Jyotish under the deptt. of Sanskrit , Delhi University.
Dr. Beni Madhav Goswami was holding a lot many national and international degrees like Jyotish Vidyavachaspati, Daivajna Maharshi , Vishwa Jyotish Samrat etc. He ws been a columnist for various local and national dailies and was writing the column ‘Panchang and Rashiphal’ in national daily Hindi Hindustan for the last 35 years. More than a dozen books on Jyotish have been written by Dr. Goswami of which Lal Kitab Dairy, Upay a Martand, Lal Kitab ke Farman-1939, Lal Kitab ke Arman-1940, Lal Kitab Tarmeem Shuda-1942, Lal Kitab-1952 have gained popularity. He was the editor of Goswami Jyotish Times a Jyotish monthly. He was also editing Jamdagani Bhavishya Laghu Panchang.
He was is the chairman of Akhil Bhartiya Jyotish Swadhyaya Sansthan, an organization devoted to the cause of Bhartiya Jyotish. He was the life member of the govt. run Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies, New Delhi and ISKCON. He was also the patron of Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Society. He was the national president of the All India Brahman Mahasabha, New Delhi. He was connected with many other social religious and philanthropic societies. Lastly Dr. Goswami presented the Devanagari transcsiption of three of the five volumes of Lal Kitab in Urdu namely Lal Kitab ke Farman-1939 , Lal Kitab ke Arman 1940 and Lal Kitab Tarmeem Shuda-1942, Lal Kitab-1952 .
Dr. Goswami traveled extensively various countries of the world as U.K., USA, Germany, Malaysiya, Indonesia, Thialand, Pakistan and Nepal. He visited Mauritius on a special invitation from the then President H.H. Dr. Shiva Sagar Ramghulam and stayed there for one and a half month. Dr.Goswami was also been presenting his T.V. Programmes from time to time.
